Welcome!
The Marshall McLuhan Center on Global Communications was founded by McLuhan's daughter Mary shortly after his death in 1980. Initially, the Center focused on the promotion of excellence in teaching and learning with technology. For many years, the Center contributed to educational growth through the Marshall McLuhan Distinguished Teacher Awards.
"One of the most important responsibilities of The Marshall McLuhan Center on Global Communications is to promote the use of communications technologies in the teaching/learning environment." - Mary McLuhan
Educational Policy Research— A New FocusThe world today is faced with an unprecedented array of problems of humankind’s own making. If they are to be solved, education must play a key role. Unfortunately, today’s education systems are based largely on centuries old methods of both teaching and assessment.
In the revolutionary spirit of Marshall McLuhan, and to help the world bring its educational processes into the 21st century, the Center is now focusing on educational policy research. This important work is being carried out at the Marshall McLuhan Center for Excellence in Education.
